19 places to see and do during your trip

Nature breaks in town and nearby to visit Barcelona

One of my favorite places when staying in Barcelona is Parc de la Ciudadela. A 17-hectare park in the heart of the city, located near the Gothic Quarter!

For a breath of fresh air after the effervescence of the city, head to the Ciudadela Park. This green oasis, located in the city center, is the ideal place for a picnic or long relaxing walks.

For the record, this park was built on the occasion of theUniversal Exhibition of 1888. It takes its name from the old citadel (destroyed during the Revolution of 1868) which once occupied the land. Very large, it is spread over 17 hectares and has 10 different entrances.

A popular activity to do in Parc de la Ciutadella is a boat ride on its pleasant lake. Account € 6 for 30 minutes for two people or € 10 for four to five people.

The impressive fountain, inspired by the Trevi fountain in Rome, is also to be seen, as well as the Arc de Triomphe.

This is also where the Barcelona Zoo, where you can observe nearly 400 different animal species. A cool idea for an outing if you are traveling with your family! Finally, do not hesitate to take a look at the Catalan Parliament and to visit the Three Dragon Castle, a space devoted to zoology.

You’ll be able to stroll around the lake and the waterfall, admire the imposing fountain and the life-size mammoth sculpture. It is also the ideal place for a picnic or for an ice cream when you come to visit Barcelona.

It is open every day from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

In short, it would be a shame to visit Barcelona without stopping at Parc de la Ciutadella!

Horta Labyrinth Park

Unknown to tourists, and yet the Horta Labyrinth Park is the oldest park in Barcelona ! The main attraction is of course its labyrinth, which occupies a large part of this 9 hectare park, with the statues of Eros In the center.

The park also has two gardens, a neoclassical and a romantic. This unique place has served as the backdrop for several films, including Tom Tykwer’s Le Parfum released in 2006.

To get some fresh air and get out of town, the Montserrat mountain is a to have to do around Barcelona. About 1 hour by train, you will discover a magnificent natural site. If you don’t want to rent a car there is sightseeing buses departing from Barcelona (tickets here).

Several hikes exist around the massif, the main circuit being that of the Saint Jeroni peak. After 3 hours of walking and a few stairs to climb, you will arrive at the top of Montserrat. You will be amazed, the 360 degree panorama is amazing!
